Where does aromatherapy come from?
The influence of spices on the mental and physical state was known since ancient times. The first reliable data on the extraction of essential oils from plants were found in Sumerian clay plates, dated to 5000 BC. But the Egyptians are considered  the real founders widely using aromatic plant extracts to impact the body and soul. There are numerous documents which testify to the use of essential oils in Egypt, starting with their application in the treatment and for praising gods and finishing with mummification, where cedar oil has a major role.

The term "aromatherapy" was first introduced by the French chemist - Rene Gatefos in 1928. Gatefos was studying the use of essential oils for cosmetic products. But his observations proved that oils had impressive antiseptic and healing properties.
Today, aromatherapy is experiencing a boom in Europe and America.
