Botox - mimic wrinklesDo not allow emotions to leave traces on your skin!
Every emotion causes a reaction: a smile, raised eyebrows, forehead wrinkled in astonishment. Even happiness is a form of stress and impacts the skin in the form of fine wrinkles, which gradually knit the web of ageing.
The BOTOX therapy is the best method for non-surgical smoothing out mimic wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes and between the eyebrows.
Injection of small quantities of BOTOX directly into the muscles causes them to relax and the skin over the treated area becomes smooth. The procedure is adjusted individually for each patient and has a reversible effect.
The first changes are reported after 72 hours. The maximum effect appears after 14 days, and its duration is 4 - 6 months. The next application of BOTOX is after 6 months and the the effect is extended to 8 - 12 months.
Most appropriate for BOTOX therapy are patients aged 30 - 55. Their skin elasticity is retained and does not "hang" after muscle relaxation. At the discretion of the specialist BOTOX can be applied in younger patients or in those in older ones, depending on individual circumstances, and may be combined with other techniques - peeling, laser lift.
Questions:
What is BOTOX?
BOTOKS (botulinum toxin) is synthesized and released by a specific type of bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum. Mainly type A is used for medical purposes and very rarely type C.
Only if it enters the digestive system and in great quantities, botulinum toxin can cause botulism.
When and in what cases is BOTOX used?
BOTOX was detected in 1822. And since 1968, it started being used for medical purposes. Since 1978, it has been used in ophthalmology for the treatment of strabismus in children with blefarospasm, and in neurology in facial hemispasm.
Since 1992 it has been effectively used for treatment of mimic wrinkles of the face, as well as for healing hyperhydrosis.
What is the BOTOX mechanism of action?
The botulinum toxin blocks the transmission of nerve impulses to the muscle fiber. Thus, the muscle remains permanently in a state of relaxation, i.e. does not contract, due to which the skin remains smooth.
Can side effects occur ?
Immediately after application you may feel tension, stretching or get a headache. This is normal and disappears within 2 days after the manipulation. The most serious adverse effect in the application of BOTOX is eyelid ptosis - the eyelid hangs down and the eye cannot open completely. This condition is very rare and fully recovered within several weeks.
To avoid this happening, BOTOX is injected only by specialist dermatologists and plastic surgeons in specialized facilities.
I decided to have a BOTOX therapy, what is the course of the procedure?
The procedure is conducted after an appointment with Dr. Peikova. Makeup is removed and the skin is cleaned where BOTOX is to be applied. The points of injection are set. Dr. Peikova determines the quantity to be injected. The patient is seated or in a reclining position. During the injection, one may feel pricking, burning, or stretching, which soon disappears. After the procedure a chilled mask could be applied on the face for 10 minutes
What should I do next?
It is recommended to stay in the right position within 2 - 3 hours after the procedure without exerting mimic muscles by mimics and laughter. This facilitates a more even and complete distribution of the active substance in the injected muscle and prevents further complications.
What should I do after the procedure?
Do not knead or press injected area. Do not use active cosmetics - creams, gels, masks, do not have procedures like peeling or face massage for at least 72 hours, and it is not advisable to visit solariums, saunas or sunbathe.
